Since being introduced to the Dutch dance scene in 1998 by MC Marxman, Stretch has become a regular voice on the microphone for some of the biggest organizations all over the world. He began his entertainment career back in London in 1988, doing his own parties with a couple of friends. This soon led to Weekend Pirate Radio. "Everybody in North London would listen to my shows on Saturday and Sunday morning because I played everything. It was funny because we only had message pagers back then, so from 7 a.m. till 10 a.m. it was total madness, god helps me if I was mashed from the night before". This began his professional career in Dance music. At the end of 1992, he moved swiftly in the industry creating his own parties in North London and after a 3-month stay in New York, he went back to London and started working with A.W.O.L. and World Dance.
They were responsible for bringing "Jungle" to the masses in the U.K. through the massive raves at “Lydd Airport” and in North London at the "Paradise Club". A.W.O.L. (a way of life) was the first London club to play Drum and Bass in the main room and U.S. Garage in the second room. He loved the new breakbeat sound but decided this was the time to play soulful house and U.S. Garage as a DJ, and he spun the vinyl alongside residents Tommy Cockles, Ritchie Fingers, Laurence Bagnall and international guests like Frankie "Shag" Bones and Farley Jackmaster Funk. In 1993-94 he was very much part of the frontline of the U.K. Garage scene. Internationally tagged "Speed Garage", Stretch was the first MC alongside MC Creed at the now-infamous "The Spread Love Project" which co-in sided with the creation of "Public Demand Records." They went on to produce artists such as Craig David, Artful Dodger, and Robbie Craig.
Always the DJ, promoter, Stretch could be continually heard on the pirate airwaves doing his regular shows for Subjam, Function and eventually the internet radio station Gia live, where he felt most at home. In 1997 he secured his first residency at "Propaganda" in Shoreditch where he resided for 3 years until going to work for Dance Valley in Ibiza in 2000 and 2001.
Stretch has well over 25 years of experience working with some of the biggest and the best in the business: Ministry of Sound, World Dance, A.W.O.L., Public Demand, Creamfields, Twice as Nice, Kiss F.M, Penge, Dance Valley, Mojo concerts, U.D.C, Free your Mind Festival, Rock It Open Air, Stereosonic in Australia, Tomorrowland worldwide, ID&T, Extrema, The Matrixx, Tiësto in Concert, Exquisit Promotions in Germany, Amnesia, Es Paradis, Cafe Mambo, Ancient People (Ibiza) Fresh Events in Malta and Webster’s Hall, New York.
Since his permanent move to the Netherlands in 2002, Stretch has become the voice for a generation. Held in the highest regard by Tiesto to Carl Cox there is no better host for a party or festival in the world of dance music. Tomorrowland has become his church and the message is to spread love.
He continues to produce under several names and features as MC Stretch throughout every genre of music. His first love is still as a DJ (he favors the after party) but knows his role as the MC is much more important especially with the current trend of Dance music and the evolution of the festival experience. Always the professional and a gentleman, your club or festival is in very safe hands.
