Myon & Shane 54
Hailing from Hungary, Myon & Shane 54 have achieved extraordinary success in the international dance music scene, having established a solid reputation for themselves with notable releases including numerous Beatport number ones and consistent rankings among DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs (voted #79 in 2013, voted #80 in 2012, voted #66 in 2011, #62 in 2010 and #91 in 2009). They produce for some of the biggest names in music, are constant fixtures in set lists of some of world’s best known DJs, and regularly feature in a multitude of EDM radio show playlists. Myon & Shane 54 also host their own weekly radio show “International Departures”, one of the most popular music podcasts around due in large part to their all-encompassing approach to mash-ups.
Teaming up in 2008, Myon & Shane 54 are no strangers to proper musicianship. Myon is a trained keyboardist who learned jazz piano from age seven and later became skilled at synthesizer programming. Shane 54 was the lead singer in a Hungarian boyband. After the band split up he embarked on a successful solo career, selling nearly half a million records over fourteen albums. Myon & Shane 54’s approach to music production fundamentally differs from that of most electronic music artists. With strong roots in pop music, the two firmly believe that traditional songwriting values are as important in EDM as they are in more traditional forms of mainstream music.
Myon & Shane 54’s first single "Trapped" was released three months after they began working together. Armin van Buuren quickly became one of their early supporters, and since that first release the internationally renowned superstar DJ has championed their work. In 2009 the duo signed with Armada Music, one of the world's top independent dance labels. That same year saw them remixing Armin's “Never Say Never” which appeared on his “Imagine – The Remixes” album. Other artists who have received Myon & Shane 54’s remix treatment include many of the world’s elite DJs including Tiësto, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, BT and NERVO, to name just a few, as well as several pop artists such as Lana Del Rey, Demi Lovato, Jessie J, Christina Milian and Craig David.
With successful original releases and remixes came touring. Myon & Shane 54’s second international gig (outside of Hungary) was opening the ASOT400 party series at Butan Club in Wuppertal, Germany. That performance exposed Myon & Shane 54 to a global audience as they had their dance music equivalent of a Hollywood big screen debut. Just days later, the gig requests started pouring in, eventually making the pair one of the hardest touring DJ acts of the past two years. They have headlined at many popular venues including sold out performances at Webster Hall in New York and Exchange in LA, and have featured at numerous dance music festivals including Tomorrowland, Nocturnal Wonderland, Paradiso Festival and Electric Zoo.
As Myon & Shane 54’s fan base has grown so has the reach of their music. By Fall 2013, Myon & Shane 54 had two Top 20 singles on different Billboard charts at the same time with the hit releases “Strangers” (a collaboration with Seven Lions) and “Lie To Me” (a collaboration with Cole Plante). Satellite radio also took notice with both songs receiving regular rotation on the heavily subscribed SiriusXM BPM channel. The first 6 months of 2014 saw the duo have 5 tracks on the Billboard Dance Chart, including a #1 and a #3.
The duo’s acclaimed weekly radio show “International Departures” has a devoted following of its own. With its tastemaker status, a global audience and more than two hundred episodes aired to date, the “International Departures” radio show continues to be a unique weekly staple for Myon & Shane 54’s fans.
